INTRODUCTION EXPLORER 225 EXPLORER 251 WALKER BAY 8 WALKER BAY 10 OTHER TENDERS |
EXPLORER 251 Design The 251 design takes the classic lines of an 8 foot clinker rowing dinghy and equips it with a modern interior seat moulding. The design and construction enables us to supply a sleek tender weighing little over 30 kg. It is suitable for use as a rowing tender or with an outboard. The hull shape provides low drag when rowing and reasonable stability. Being a displacement hull the boat will not plane. Construction Glass fibre reinforced polyester resin throughout. COREMAT interlaminar reinforcement to provide stiffening of the transom. Polyurethane foam is bonded in for strength and buoyancy. Aluminium Alloy or Stainless Steel fasteners and fittings. Reinforcement Coremat interlaminar reinforcement is used at the rowlock points, transom and hull floor and the outboard placement. Polyurethane foam is bonded into the seat laminations to provide strength and buoyancy. A wood block is positioned between the skins to reinforce the outboard placement (where specified). The block can be replaced if required. Buoyancy Positive flotation to ensure boat will float even if completely filled with water. Additional foam may be specified if required to support an outboard. Length Overall: 2510mm (8 foot 3 inches) Beam: 1175mm (4foot 2 inches) Payload The 251 has a calm weather payload of 180kg. This weight includes all crew, outboard and equipment. Weight: 30 - 45 kg depending upon options chosen. Outboard: 2 horsepower recommended - 4 hp maximum Oars: 1.8m length are ideal - will stow within the boat, on the seats. 2.4m maximum length for rough sea conditions.
