SPORTS

The Explorer SPORTS range, with its 15 degree deadrise hull, is designed for those users who want a wide boat with unrivalled stability, both dynamically and at rest, a dry ride and amazing performance from a given engine size. The standard SPORTS range starts at 4.0 metres and rises to 8.0 metres, although special boats can be built with this hullform up to 10 metres. The SPORTS range has been revised with a new hullform which has been developed after hundreds of hours of testing to provide enhanced high speed rough water handling, improved acceleration, reduced drag for better economy and better reverse handling.

Explorer Marine SPORTS model boats are heavyweight products designed for serious use. The bow is flared and high which pushes aside waves and spray and creates a dryer ride for occupants. The squared off front of the tube creates space for a good bow seat and locker and is a fine platform for climbing off onto jetties and other boats, or simply diving in for a swim. The transom in the smaller SPORTS Model is curved and robust, both adding to its structural rigidity and exceptional strength. Mid range models have fully moulded transoms with extended planing surfaces and integrated boarding steps. With outboards growing in size and weight our strong transom has proved itself again and again - the boat pictured below is a SPORTS 575 fitted with an Evinrude 175 hp - The strong transom can also provide a mounting for boarding ladders, auxiliary engines, ‘A’ frames and sports extras such as towing points and dive racks.

Layout and seating is specified with each customer depending on the size of boat ordered and includes a choice of colours and different levels of trim. At the bow is a forward anchor locker which covered with a bow cushion can seat two, with the tube at the bow making a comfortable back rest. Consoles have forward facing front seats for one, two or three people. The helm seat can be a choice of one or two pedestal seats, a long bench seat/rest, or a stainless steel framed seat for up to 3. Stern seat options can be one seat either side of the engine well or a sun lounger curved rear seat which is wide and spacious and seats up to four in comfort and which also can incorporate deep aft lockers. Explorer Marine specializes in fitting marine grade carpet in our boats since this provides the best combination of grip and safety. For the modern minimalist, vinyl tread plate can be chosen which is easy care and swift to wash down being especially suitable for fishermen, or for the ultimate mix of classic and modern, teak look flooring can be laid.

Every boat is manufactured for a specific customer, to incorporate their choices of colours, seating layout and type, engine brand and size, boat length and width, electronics and options. Thus the following prices are given as a guide only. A special price will be calculated for each boat ordered.

In addition to the outboard options listed above, Explorer Marine can also fit petrol or diesel sterndrives or waterjets, for those customers whose use requires them. Sterndrives can be specified from any manufacturer, however, the following price guides are based on the Cummins - Mercruiser range of diesel engines.
